Ex-Hawthorne Hawks coach Alistair Clarkson, and ex-football director Chris Fagan were both accused of racism. They have since resigned from their positions.
Jeff Kennett, Hawthorne president, said that those who leaked the report were the club’s most fair and best case. He hoped it would be “quickly settled by all parties”.

It was a storytelling exercise in which people were asked for secret stories. That is something we respect. They decided to talk to journalists and they named people who they had real problems. He said that this was unfair to the people.
“So, therefore, we need to sort this out. But, please, I don’t see this as a crisis. I am familiar with this club. I know its history. I also know its strength. We will deal with this and help in any way we can.”
