Yolanda’s most recent response video is after she did a “nine month social media detox” in August. She returned with a photograph in August. The photo shows her smiling and looking calm as she sits outside enjoying the sun and the beauty of the surroundings. In her post, she included a long comment about her mental and physical health. She needed to be more focused on that for a while.
“After a 9-month hiatus on social media, it’s time to re-evaluate my life. After losing my mother, I actually suffered from depression followed by a Lyme relapse….”, she wrote. My immune system has been affected by stress and sadness. I was also becoming addicted to my phone, which took away from me and my daily life. “Texting is so much easier than picking up the phone and calling someone. We are all guilty of that.” “I realized that we were slowly starting to lose the art of communication and create a deep isolation within us. The good times of flip and pagers – a way to call people without having to answer endless emails or scroll through social media until you hurt your eyes.
She concluded, “Anyway, it was a great reset. It was time to stop picking up my smartphone 50 times per day.” “Learning to focus on myself, my healthy journey and being in this moment in my life. Time has slowed down and feels more calm, more time to just sit and actually read a book, time to reconnect with people, get creative, and most importantly spend time with my family.”
