Passengers flying on the 737’s regional network can bid for Business Class upgrade – just like a regular passenger. truly They will be able increase their bid to beat other buyers for premium seats if they are sold.
As part of a special offer, the airline promises that these bids “start at just $10”.
Michael Venus, Rex’s director of media relations and external relations, said that “all passengers love the upgraded.”
“This new element of motivation in the bidding process will be a fun and economical way for our Economy Class passengers to experience our amazing Business Class product and services.”
Venus Executive Traveler reports the upgrade auctions were among several improvements made to passengers that resulted from the launch the Rex frequent flyer programme.
Another option is the introduction of no-neighbors economy seats – a Qantas option – and a lounge in Brisbane to project the competitor’s position on Australia’s lucrative ‘triangle.
How does Rex Bid-Up work?
Rex Boeing 737 Economy Class Passenger will be invited via email to bid for a Business Class Upgrade seven days prior.
This offer, however, is not an “all or nothing” deal.
Instead, travelers can increase their bids and increase their chances of getting an upgrade.
These screen shots from Rex depict Operation Bid Up for travelers.
Each ride will have a minimum and maximum bid range. We will also take credit card payment details and reuse them in any future bids.
If a passenger refuses to accept an upgrade offer greater than yours, you’ll receive an email informing you that you’ve been outbid.
Rex says that the Rex Bid Up page will always show the most current offer for an upgrade on your flight. However, it won’t tell you exactly where you are on the list.
According to the airline, you have two options: increase your bid or bid for that amount. You can also choose to pay for a amount between your initial offer and the maximum possible.
Bids close 3 hours before departure. Promotional confirmations are issued within minutes.
You can cancel your bid at any point, or leave your last bid as it is being contested by others.
